Every month there are 86 children diagnosed with cancer in Australia.
Each month 12 of them will die of cancer, while of those who do survive, two-thirds will have long term treatment side effects.
Cancer behaves differently in a child’s little body than an adult’s, and therefore requires different, more targeted treatments.
Cancer devastatingly kills more children in Australia than any other disease.
Children’s Cancer Institute exists solely to put an end to childhood cancer through medical research.
86K for a Cure is a month long fitness challenge, in which people can choose to walk or run throughout the month to complete 86km for the 86 children who are diagnosed with cancer each month.
This March, Chris Gunther of our business and his wife Emma have joined ‘86K for a Cure’ and are taking on the challenge to help raise funds for this important cause.
This cause is particularly close to Chris and Emma’s heart given their own family experience with childhood cancer, and they’ve set the bar even higher with Emma setting herself a 172Km target and Chris setting a 258Km target.
Every kilometre they conquer will be dedicated to funding research that will help a family that will hear the devastating news ‘your child has cancer’.
